Circular Economy and Upcycling Workshop with Circle Center
Join us to explore the circular economy and turn waste materials into sustainable products. Organized by LE Sustainability and Circle Center, this workshop will equip you with hands-on tools to reduce waste and create a more sustainable future. See you there!
Circular Economy & Upcycling Workshop: Transforming Waste into New Value
As we face growing environmental challenges, it’s clear that sustainable change is needed at both the personal and organizational levels. Join LE Sustainability, in collaboration with Circle Center, for a hands-on workshop focused on reducing waste through upcycling. This event is part of Lund University Sustainability Week, and we’re inviting you to learn how to make a difference with simple, everyday materials like plastic bottles and paper packaging.
In this workshop, you’ll explore the principles of the circular economy—a system where materials are reused, recycled, and repurposed instead of discarded. The session will focus on transforming common waste materials—for example paper packaging and plastic bottles—into practical, functional, and creative projects that you can take home with you.
Event Outline
15:15 – Introduction to the Circular Economy and Circle center
The workshop begins with a presentation by Ekaterina Tarasova from Circle Center. She will talk about the work of Circle Center and its role in promoting sustainability, followed by an introduction to the circular economy. Learn how these principles can be applied both in everyday life and on a larger scale to reduce waste and create a more sustainable future.
15:45– Exploring Circular Economy Practices
After the introduction, we’ll engage in a collaborative activity where participants will discuss additional ways to reduce waste in their daily lives where we’ll reflect on how these principles can be applied both personally and within organizations.
16:15 – Upcycling
Get ready for a hands-on session where you’ll upcycle waste materials into something new! Learn how to repurpose discarded items into functional creations like plant pots, organizers, or decorative pieces. This interactive activity highlights the value of materials that are often overlooked and demonstrates how small actions can contribute to sustainability. As we wrap up, connect with fellow participants, exchange ideas, and be inspired by the creativity and passion of others dedicated to sustainable living.
