Accessible repair and repair accessibility: A workshop on inclusive circularity
Circularity and sustainability are everywhere during Sustainability Week - but how accessible are they really? Who gains and who loses, who is left behind? This interactive workshop will help us engage together with two questions: How accessible is repair, and, how can repair be more accessible?
Circularity and sustainability are everywhere during Sustainability Week - but how accessible are they really? Who gains and who loses, who is left behind? This interactive workshop will help us engage together with two questions: How accessible is repair, and, how can repair be more accessible?
Whether you are unfamiliar with these terms or you have already discussed these topics before, this workshop looks forward to your engagements! It is open to everyone interested in understanding how to make circularity barrier-free. The event is co-hosted by Hållbart Universitet - Lund Students for Sustainability, and Circle Centre Lund, which host a comprehensive and accessible Library-of-things. Both organisations are run by volunteers, host repair cafes and see some of the accessibility issues first-hand and in practice.
Programme:
17:00-17:30 The first half of this interactive workshop will be a practical exercise in investigating the repairability of everyday items. We’ll discuss our observations: How often do you repair items, who can repair them, why should we repair them in the first place and what has changed over time.
17:30-18:00 The final component will discuss accessibility in repair and the greater sustainability movement – to whom, and how, is access granted, why and how are people being left behind. This second participatory component will illustrate (via mind-mapping of ideas, thoughts and barriers) how spaces are (non-)adaptive, and the lengths we still are away from equitable, just and open access to community inclusion, especially when discussing topics such as circularity and sustainability (in Lund).
Keywords:
- Actionability

Event held in English. Fika will be provided.

The event is part of Sustainability Week 2026, which runs between 13-18 April. Sustainability Week is an annual event in Lund organised as a joint venture by Lund University and Lund municipality. The week serves as a platform for bringing together ideas, raising public awareness and for inspiring sustainable change.
